Well we did it. Today we officially got our first press coverage. (full article that is….earlier in the year we had our season schedule published in the Get Out newspaper) Woo hoo! Despite them referring to Lauren as Lauren Hamilton, not Lauren Harrison in some parts… it still rocks! Any press is good press right? Live, learn, and laugh!

Yesterday, we had a long day- but it was very productive and fun! First, we rehearsed Gimme and it is starting to look really good. We all think that it is going to be a great way to start out the show. We had a few people who showed up early for class that got to take a sneak peek of it. I think they enjoyed it as well (laughter is always a good sign). After that, Angie taught a wonderful class, and we have 5 additional class members on top of our 32 Crew. We were also able to tackle the rest of The Rush aka Internal Locus and work on many of the transitions between the pieces. It is definitely seaming together! Thanks to Erika who brought the fabulous fruit and veggie trays and everyone else who brought munchies too- it kept us awake and energized throughout the day. Afterwards, we went to Chuy’s and had a nice dinner- thanks to our server who took care of all of us and let us tape up our cards for our show… we might just have to make the Sunday Chuy’s thing a weekly happening.

On Saturday, September 8th- we attended our first Get Out Performing Arts Expo. We didn’t perform, however, we joined alongside many performing groups in the valley to “set up shop” for the day and pass out information about us and our upcoming season. There were so many people that came out to join in the festivities at Scottsdale Center for the Arts- some were so prepared they even brought address labels to put their names on mailing lists for the various groups they were interested. (How smart!) We like to refer to those people as the “pros”. A memorable moment was a woman who came up to Meghan and asked if she “pumped” At first Meghan wasn’t sure what she was saying and asked her to repeat. She clarified to she if she lifted weights because she looked buff. Meghan laughed and said no, but she lifts people…and proceeded to lift Lauren who was standing next to her. Lol. Mike (aka Dizzle), Teal, Andrea, and Gwen also made an appearance and everyone sported their new 32 Flavors Tees. That, and the “32 Flavors gave me candy” stickers that the little kids, and elderly people seemed to enjoy so much! All in all it was a great day.
P.S. and to those who got some of our misprinted brochures…our debut performance is The First Taste not The Fist Taste..haha.

So after many months of rehearsing, we finally decided to have a fun evening to ourselves and take a look at each other in real clothes instead of worn dance pants, bare feet, and sweat drenched shirts. The company party was at Meghan and Lauren’s on Saturday August 18th, 2007 at 8pm. It was a great chance to get to know each other better and socialize about things going on in our lives like normal people. We all looked quite lovely!

Many of you might not know this, but the first “official” performance of 32 Flavors was at 9:35 am on Saturday May 5th, 2007. It was at Kiwanis park in Tempe for the Arts Jam which was presented by the Arts Council for Youth. The performance consisted of Meghan and Lauren doing a series of improvised pieces along with some audience participation. They got their “costumes” the evening before at 2am from WalMart.
